Week 4 Studio A
In this studio, we are required to edit text with cool effects and characters by characters. I've also learn't how to blur my text in this video, i find this studio is very useful in the near future, especially for my proj 1.
In this e-learning, we need to create a kinetic typography video from scratch syncing to Bruce Lee's voice. From this video, we learn how to animate the texts as well as how to make it appear with transitions. This is important and interesting as it will be plain if we do not add transitions to it. However, in this e-learning, it is hard to concentrate on what the guy is doing because he went over the video too fast. The things we've learned through this video is new to me as i've never used After Effects before MGE.
In this video, i've learnt to:
- create water flow by using the 'stroke' effect
- create the water droplets by using the mask tool, as well as the solid layer.
- making the transitions by positioning the camera.
The stroke effect
The Stroke effect creates a stroke or border around the path defined by one or more masks. You can also specify stroke color, opacity, and spacing, as well as brush characteristics. Specify whether the stroke appears on top of the image, on a transparent image, or if it reveals the original alpha channel. To use a path created in Illustrator, copy the path and paste it into a layer in After Effects.
Hence, in this video, the stroke effect is used to be created for the water falling down into a cup, it is very interesting as i originally thought that i will need to draw the water which is very troublesome and i'm afraid that it will not be realistic enough as my drawing skills is not up to par, however, with this effect i can easily make the water effect which also look realistic.
Moving of the anchor points
Transformations, such as rotation and scale, occur around the anchor point (sometimes calledtransformation point or transformation center) of the layer. By default, the anchor point
for most layer types is at the center of the layer.
Though there are times when you’ll want to animate the anchor point, it’s most common to set the anchor point for a layer before you begin animating. For example, if you’re animating an image of a person made up of one layer for each body part, you’ll probably want to move the anchor point of each hand to the wrist area so that the hand rotates around that point for the whole animation.
In this video, there are parts there we need to move the anchor points of the text or the image in order to rotate it better. If we put the
on the left of the text, when it is rotated, it will rotate the text to the left corner instead of moving the whole text into left side. This tool make it easier as we do not need to keep positioning the text if we rotate correctly.
Above is my final video of what i did for my e-learning.
However, it is not synced as the voice as the middle part is quite screwed.
As for project 1, i've decided to make a video of an instructional video. This video will teach people on how to cook Maggie mee. I've researched on a recipe from
it teaches us how to cook delicious food with maggi products. Hence, i will be using the "Asam Laksa" recipe.
Below are screenshots on what i intend to use for my project 1.

I hope this is not tough, however, i will try my best to make this as interactive as possible!
